Dorrell Out, Leach In at UCLA?
November 8, 2007 | Leave a Comment
The Houston Chronicle’s Joseph Duarte thinks there’s a chance 4 Big 12 coaches will be in new spots next year. Nebraska’s Bill Callahan, Texas A&M’s Dennis Franchione, and Baylor’s Guy Morriss are all likely to get fired at the end of the season (or possibly sooner…). Duarte also speculates that if UCLA’s Karl Dorrell gets the axe Texas Tech’s Mike Leach could get serious consideration.
This is pretty much the epitome of rampant speculation. First of all, Dorrell is only 5-1 to get fired on Coaches Hot Seat. Second, even if he does, UCLA hasn’t expressed any interest in Leach. The only connection is that Leach is from California and went to law school at Pepperdine.
A more interesting tidbit is that former Bears great Mike Singletary is a leading candidate to replace Morriss at Baylor. Singletary has five years experience as a head coach in the NFL and was one of the scariest linebackers in the history of football. So rock on Mike.
